Videos starring me!!

MaMa and DaDa are slowly getting used to using the video camera and uploading the clips onto the blog. (Actually, they put them on a website called YouTube and then imbed the video in the blog. See, I'm pretty technical!) Don't forget to ask MaMa or DaDa if you need help seeing the videos posted on my blog. And feel free to leave message for me: click on "Comments" at the end of any post.

Egg(y) Toast!

I love Eggy Toast! I used to call it Egg Toast. MaMa called it French Toast, but Caroline called it Eggy Bread, and I came up with Egg Toast as a linguistic compromise between British and American English. About a month ago, MaMa started letting me help make it. I love helping! I particular enjoyed dumping nearly the whole jar of cinnamon into the mixture. I love cinnamon! Yummy! I call all spices and herbs "cinnamon"--whatever comes out of a little jar on the shelves over the dish cupboard. I have my Eggy Toast with honey. A few times I've had maple syrup and like that too. But MaMa says it's hard to find here--not all the stores carry it. That's okay, because I like honey just fine!

And now (below) just a couple of days ago.

Yeah, I know: it looks like I used the egg beater on my hair . . . . DaDa says it's time for my first haircut. He was a Marine and likes his hair short and neat. MaMa is stalling him. She likes the little curl I have at the back of my neck, and she doesn't think my hair is even enough yet for a stylist or barber to do anything with it. It's long on top but very short at the front. Hmmm....maybe that's why I'm not making such a fuss anymore when MaMa puts a hat on me!

Air Balloons!!

MaMa get it!

MaMa and DaDa are very excited. They say that I am now officially speaking in something they call "sentences." I have tried out a few over the months, but now I'm putting together longer groups of words more regularly. Two of my favorites are "MaMa get it" (when I can't reach something) and "MaMa fix it" (usually with "new-new batt-batts"--new batteries). I'm not too sure about "it," though. I sometimes say, "MaMa get it binky" when I want my binky and it's out of reach.

Yesterday I tripped in the back yard/garden and said, "I fell down." MaMa was very impressed by my use of a past tense, let alone an irregular past tense! (Not sure what that means, but that's what MaMa said....) I also now sometimes let people know about more than one thing by adding an "s" to the end--shoes, cookies, etc. And that something belongs to someone by putting an s, too (isn't that confusing??): MaMa's book, JoMo's tea. [I haven't told him about apostrophes yet....].

On Saturday we went to the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta and saw AIR BALLOONS!!! It was so much fun!! I had no idea they were that big! I waved and said "Hello!" to the people in the baskets under the balloons. DaDa has the photos. I'll have to get him to post them here. But until then, here are some public video clips from YouTube. Hello again!

Sorry it has been so long! MaMa has been spending a lot of time in a building with lots and lots of books. Then this week she has been busy going to meetings where people talk and today she got to talk about all that she had been reading in all those books! Now she is very very tired.

But DaDa managed to post an old video of me wishing GaGa a Happy Birthday back in February. DaDa is learning how to use the YouTube website and hopefully he will put some more videos up soon.

I learn how to spell

Today we were having tea and scones in the garden. (Click here and scroll down for an old story about me enjoying tea and scones.) I helped DaDa make the scones. I got to dump in the flour and baking powder and sugar and buttermilk and help stir it all together. I also got to use my new Portmeirion tea mug that DaDa got me. It's just like MaMa's and DaDa's but just my size!

During the tea, MaMa and DaDa were talking about what we might have for dinner and what I might get to do for fun. They tried to be clever and spell things out to each other. DaDa said to MaMa, "Maybe JoMo and I should go to the P-A-R-K." And I immediately said, "Park! Park!" Boy, you should have seen their faces! They were shocked! They shouldn't be. They're the ones who read to me and taught me about ABC's! (I call letters "ABC's" now rather than "CDE's", by the way.) A few weeks ago they were discussing whether they should let me have something and spelled "I-C-E", and I promptly said "Ice cream!" But they concluded that that one wasn't too hard to figure out, since I-C-E sounds like "icy"!

They can't try using French for code either, because I'm already learning that! Because I'm fascinated by fencing, I can say "En Garde!" and "Ashay!" [how he says "Touché!"]. My Auntie Jacqui taught me how to say "Au revoir!" And so now I'll say "Au revoir" -- Bye Bye for now!
