Peace on Earth
I love singing Christmas carols. I have a big book of them and I can identify all the songs in it by the pictures and then tell you where I first remember singing it. "Sing that at Mommy's college!" I say when we sing "Away in a Manger," because we sang that at a Christingle service in the chapel at Mommy's college. "Sing that at GaGa's church!" for "We Three Kings". Mommy checked the program that we still had from that Christmas Eve service--and sure enough, we did sing that song there. "Sing that at church!" for "Hark, the Herald Angels Sing"--we sang that at a really cool Advent service with lots of candles at our church here. I go around singing Christmas songs all the time. I even made Mommy bring my Christmas song book to nursery last week. I told her, "Children will sing Christmas songs for JoMo." Mommy made me pick another couple of books to bring too, just in case the teachers or children weren't up for that.
I know the words to lots of Christmas carols--and other songs--by heart. Sometimes I decide to change the lyrics of the song. Daddy taught me you could do that when he taught me "Jingle Bells, Batman smells"! Or when Mommy sings to me "JoMo is two! JoMo is two!" to the tune of "Winnie the Pooh"! Sometimes though I get confused about the meaning of the words. When I see Harold the Helicopter in a Thomas the Tank Engine book, I sometimes sing "Hark, the Harold...."
And tonight, while we were eating dinner, I pointed at the spice rack in the kitchen and said, "Herbs there!" Then I started singing (of course) "Peace on herbs and mercy mild!"
May all your herbs be peaceful, and your spices mild (if your tummy is like mine, that is)!
