Happy Easter!
I hope you all have had a good Easter. It all
Mommy and Daddy say that the song that the crowd in Jerusalem sang maybe didn't sound exactly like it, but that's okay. It's how I like to sing it today.
On Saturday we dyed Easter eggs. We had a hard time finding white eggs here in England. Daddy saw some white duck eggs, but decided not to get those. Instead, he opened a lot of boxes of normal brown chicken eggs and selected the lightest brown ones and put them in one box of a dozen! Then he made dye out of food coloring and vinegar. We also painted some using a cool thing we got at Farmer Gow's. It has two bunnies to hold the eggs. I said that one bunny was playing the trumpet and one the trombone. That's what it looks like to me. They hold the egg and I hold the paintbrush and Mommy or Daddy helps spin the egg around. That's how we made the striped eggs.
On Saturday we went to Farmer Gow's. They moved to a new location this year. But they still have lots of animals, including some three-day-old babies: three lambs and a goat and a bunch of chicks. I got to look at the baby lambs, but I petted and talked a lot to the baby goat and also held a chick. Then I bottlefed some slightly older baby goats. The pregnant ewes (mama sheep) came out of their pen to be fed and kind of scared me, as they were a lot bigger than I am! But I enjoyed watching the two-week-old calf get milk from her mommy and the heavily pregnant pig eat her food. I also got to collect eggs from the hens' nesting
boxes, sit in a tipi, drive some tractors around, and play on a huge pile of hay bales, complete with very long, dark tunnels! It was snowing and hailing while we were there, and the wind was blowing us all over the place.
On Easter Sunday we woke up to more snow! It only stuck for a very short time on the ground. During breakfast I wore the Easter hat that I made at the toddler group at church. There were a couple of presents for me to open:
a puzzle book and a remote control electric engine for my train set! The Easter Bunny hid a basket of goodies for me. I had to find it behind a chair in the living room.
We went to church and had a lot of fun there. I got to stand on the stage for some of the singing. And they had a short hunt for us for some small
chocolate eggs--that was great! The pastor said "Christ
is risen!" and we said, "He is risen indeed!"
After we got home, I hunted for more eggs in the garden. That Easter bunny sure did a good job hiding them! He stole the dyed eggs out of our refrigerator and scattered them around the garden, but also hid some plastic eggs with treats inside. He even hid a couple of really big gold-covered chocolate eggs! What a nice bunny!
