Stealth Visit

Sorry for the long pause! That's what happens when you let me have the remote control! Ha!

Actually, we went away for Easter. We made a stealth visit to the States. (My Uncle Bill might be surprised to learn that some Boeing 777s come equipped with stealth technology!) MaMa and DaDa decided right before we left. We planned to spend the weekend in DC and then a few days in Texas visiting my grandparents in both places. But then I wasn't feeling 100%, so I didn't make it to Texas and neither did MaMa. We were sad about that! But considering it was going to be another three or four flights standby to get there and back, it probably was for the best. Especially as we ended up getting stuck in Raleigh, North Carolina, for four or five days trying to get on a flight back home! At least we got to hang out there with my Aunty Lacey and Uncle Matthew and their beautiful daughter CLAIRE! I learned her name very quickly because I really liked her.

Each day in North Carolina, MaMa and DaDa and I would go to the airport, check in, go through security--I got very good at knowing when it was time to take my shoes off to be put through the big machine. Then we would wait. I enjoyed looking at all the airplanes! I love airplanes! But then we wouldn't get to go on the plane, and we would turn around and go back out again. It was kind of confusing! MaMa and I had spent a day at the airport in Washington, DC, before we even got to Raleigh. We spent the whole day there with no luck. Fortunately, unbeknowst to us, PaPa [Grandpa] waited the WHOLE time for us! We knew he waited for the first flight that we didn't get on because he had us paged and then we went out past the lines of people waiting to put their stuff through the machine, and we had lunch with PaPa. That was fun! Then we went back through that long line of people and put all our stuff and my shoes through the machine again and waited and waited by the door leading down to the plane. After lots of planes left without us--I enjoyed watching them!--we left too, and PaPa was still waiting! We went to PaPa and GaGa's house and spent another night. They weren't sad about that!

Meanwhile, DaDa had made it to North Carolina. MaMa and I made it the next day without a problem. But then we were stuck. The funniest thing was that MaMa's clothes went to England without her! And so did the rest of my nappies [diapers]. So DaDa had to take a $30 cab ride to a store that sold nappies! There weren't any near the airport. You would think they would sell some at the airport, but they didn't. None at the gas station next to the airport motel. None at the mall across the street from the motel. None within five miles of the motel. It's like it didn't occur to anyone that babies and toddlers travel!

Anyway, we apologize that we didn't contact our friends to let them know we were coming -- there was no time as we went on short notice, and since the visit was short we planned on just spending it with family. MaMa and DaDa were too jetlagged to do much besides. We hope you understand.
