Candles!
One of my favorite words--and things--lately is "candles!" [ed. note: It sounds a bit like "can-can" and a bit like "ker-ker"--close to the German for candle, which is Kerze!] It all started about ten days ago when MaMa and DaDa took me to something called Luminox. You can read more about it here and here on the BBC website. On the way down there, Mommy said, "There will be some candles and some music there." BOY! Was there ever! It was amazing! As we strolled among the crowds and the huge displays of fire and water, we enjoyed the music being played on the bandstand. MaMa and DaDa pushed my stroller to the front row so I could watch the musicians playing and singing. Ever since then I have been saying "CanCan!" and then making the baby sign for "music" and then clapping my hands, because it was so much fun! Just thinking about it makes me happy and makes me keep asking for candles and music! I even asked for MaMa to turn off the lights in the kitchen while we were eating breakfast a couple of days later, and then asked her for candlelight! So we ate our cereal by the flickering flames of the little candles on the kitchen table (they were leftover from our candlelit dinner the night before).
The day before Luminox, MaMa and I went to Millie's 2nd birthday party! I went to her 1st birthday party, too, but I don't really remember it because I was 3 months old. This time, I really got into the fun and ate lots. And I think maybe that's where I started getting interested in candles. Her mum brought out a cake and there were two candles on it. People sang "Happy Birthday to You" and Millie blew the candles out. It was so much fun that she asked to do it again, so her mum relit the candles and she blew them out again! Maybe this is why Luminox made such an impression on me. In any event, I've been talking about it ever since and pointing out candles too. Like, when we were reading "Goodnight, Moon," I pointed to the fireplace in the drawing and said, "Can-Can!" And when MaMa took me outside in the back garden a couple of days ago, I wandered over to the barbecue and pointed at it and said, "Can-Can!" MaMa was really surprised by that, because it's been ages since there was a fire in the barbecue! Months and months ago. So how could I remember that? I don't know, but I did.
I also made my first real piece of artwork this week. Mommy let me draw with my markers--something I haven't gotten to do much. It was fun! I picked the orange and red and brown one and made a really energetic drawing. MaMa asked me what it was a picture of, and I told her, "Can-Can!" I was surprised she hadn't figured it out!
And now some pictures from Millie's birthday.
Here I am devouring some cucumber (cut into heart shapes!). I love cucumber!
Time for yummy cake!
YUMMMMMMMY!
