New Tricks

I've discovered lots of fun things I can do lately!

I said "ByeBye" to my friend Hannah last Thursday evening, the 10th of August. She was leaving after playing with me for a couple of hours. I also blew her some kisses. Well, actually, I just made kisses in the air. MaMa and DaDa had gone somewhere [ed. note: We went to dinner at Le Petit Blanc--our first real date since the baby was born, other than a film and Mike's company ball, which he had to work at!], but they came back and then we stood at the doorway and I piped up and said "ByeBye!" and everybody laughed at me! I don't know why they laughed. Isn't that what you say when someone's leaving?

On Friday I went to the big building I was born in and saw the nice doctor I saw a couple of months ago. I still have to take two medicines to help me "go," but he changed one of them. There were lots of toys to play with while we waited, including a rocking horse! I loved that! MaMa said that it must be my Texan genes.

On Saturday morning I was playing with MaMa and DaDa on the big bed. DaDa was trying to sleep a little longer, but I think he was pretending, because I said "Hi, DaDa!" and then "Up!" and he laughed! Later in the day MaMa and DaDa took me someplace DaDa called "We-B-Toys." It was fun! It was very noisy and had so many things to look at. They bought me a special seat to have my meals in called a "booster seat." MaMa called it a "big boy seat."

My friend Hannah gave me a football [soccer ball] on Sunday, and I've had so much fun rolling it to people and having them roll it back. When someone helps me balance I can kick the ball too! I saw the players doing that during the World Cup on television. Sometimes Mommy shouts "Goal!" when I kick it. That's pretty exciting!

This week I also learned to pull myself up on the handrail in the bathtub. It's kind of slippy in there, so it was tricky to figure that one out! Last week I learned how to pull the plug in the bathtub. All the water started to disappear! Daddy said, "Water go bye-bye." So I waved bye-bye to the water as it went down the hole.

This week I've also started pulling up on the coffee table, which makes Mommy run around trying to figure out what to do with the stuff on the table. For some reason, she doesn't want me to play with it. Why is it there, then?

One trick I love to do is I get on all fours on the big bed. Then I tuck my head down between my hands and put my bum up in the air. Then DaDa or MaMa grab my feet and lift them over my head! It's so funny! I laugh when they do that. Then sometimes they flip my legs over and I do a little somersault. And we all laugh!

Next week I'll be 9 months old! Can you believe it?
